Fowey walks
There are a number of picturesque trails and paths that wind their way around Fowey and the nearby countryside and coast. The most notable Fowey walks are are included below.
Hall Walk
Considered by many to be one of the best walks in Cornwall, this four mile trail runs from Bodinnick to Polruan via Pont. It winds through National Trust countryside along the banks of the River Fowey and affords some fine coastal vistas. A number of benches are placed along the path for ramblers to take a break, and The
Bodinnick Ferry can be taken from Polruan back to Fowey for those with tired feet.
Saint's Way
A 30 mile waymarked trail which runs to Padstow on the Northern Coast. This trail connects a number of religious shrines and buildings such as
St. Fimbarrus Church. The path was once used by Christian missionaries during the dark ages and later by mariners, looking to avoid the treacherous waters of South Cornwall. The Saint's Way passes through a varied landscape of farmland, moors and dense woodland and, like Hall Walk, allows visitors to truly appreciate the magnificence of the Cornish countryside.
Fowey Coastal Path
Coastal paths run from Fowey to Polruan and St Austell. Beyond Polruan, the coastal path runs from the afore mentioned Lantic Bay - the views from these trails are spectacular. Alternatively, it is possible to take a circular coastal route from Fowey to Polkerris and back again via the Saints Way. Its about a 10 mile walk so allow around 6 hours.
